Complete Guide to Shipping a Motorcycle from the USA to Mongolia
Everything you need to know about container, RoRo, and air freight — timelines, costs, and what to expect.
Shipping a motorcycle internationally can seem daunting if you've never done it before. But with the right information, it's a straightforward process.
Shipping Methods
Container Shipping (FCL/LCL)
The most common method. The motorcycle is secured on a pallet with special tie-downs and loaded into a sea container. For a single motorcycle, LCL (Less than Container Load) is most economical — $1,800-$2,500. Timeline: 35-50 days.
RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off)
The motorcycle is rolled onto and off the vessel on its own wheels. This is cheaper than container shipping ($1,200-$1,800) but not available at all ports. Shipments to Mongolia typically transit through Tianjin port.
Air Freight
The fastest option (7-14 days) but most expensive ($4,000-$8,000). Recommended only for urgent situations.
